Turns out everybody wants a piece of this neighborhood: can't blame them, the bones are too good. So we found our own piece of it on Laguna, and we're doing exactly what we do everywhere else: a chair, a drink, and forty-five minutes where nobody's checking their phone."

Purpose

Every neighborhood has a story. This one happens to match ours pretty well.

In 1989 an earthquake cracked the Central Freeway right down the spine of this neighborhood. The city could've patched it and moved on. Instead, they tore the whole thing down and started over — parks, patios, a shipping-container plaza where an on-ramp used to be.

Hayes Valley has been rebuilding itself on purpose for thirty-five years. That's basically our whole business model. We just do it to hair.
